ITV announced ITVX in 2022 as a larger streaming product than ITV Hub. ITV Hub had mainly been known for catching up with television after broadcast. ITVX kept catch-up viewing but added a deeper library, online premieres, themed channels and a stronger focus on discovering programmes inside the streaming service. It officially launched in December 2022. The product uses both advertising and subscriptions: viewers can watch a large amount for free with adverts, while Premium provides a different experience and additional material.
