What we verify
We check the details that affect a reader’s understanding: title names, release dates, credited roles, creators, episode or film order, official classifications, platform ownership and the identity of a person described in a biography. Plot interpretation is labelled as analysis rather than presented as an official fact.
For biographies, matching a name is not enough. Available dates, occupations, known credits, identifiers and source context are compared before material is attached to a profile. Ambiguous combined pages and similarly named people are held for review.
Source priority
Official studios, broadcasters, streaming services, classification boards, award organisations and a person’s authorised channels are preferred for primary facts. Reputable reference databases and established publications can provide supporting context when a primary record is unavailable.
A single source is not automatically sufficient for a disputed or surprising claim. The level of checking should rise with the potential harm, the likelihood of confusion and how quickly the information can change.
Time-sensitive information
Streaming catalogues, prices and release schedules vary by country and change frequently. These details should include a region or verification date where possible, and readers are encouraged to confirm a purchase or subscription on the service itself.
Evergreen facts are reviewed when an article is substantially updated. A visible last-verified date describes the latest editorial check; it is not a promise that every external service remains unchanged.
