In-depth guide

From CBS All Access to Paramount+

CBS All Access launched before Paramount+ and focused mainly on CBS television, live local stations in supported areas and a growing group of originals. In September 2020, ViacomCBS announced that the service would be rebranded as Paramount+ and expanded with programming from across the company. Paramount+ launched in the United States on 4 March 2021 and began a wider international rollout. The new name connected the service with Paramount's film history while allowing it to include television, children's programmes, news and sport. Corporate ownership and branding have continued to evolve, but the product still uses Paramount's collection of studios and channels as its foundation. International availability is not uniform. Some countries have a direct application, while others receive Paramount programmes through a local broadcaster, bundle or channel inside another platform. Older references to CBS All Access usually describe the US service that became Paramount+.

Content brands and live programming

Paramount+ draws from a broad group of entertainment brands. Paramount Pictures supplies films, CBS contributes television and, in supported US plans, live station access, while Nickelodeon adds children's and family programmes. MTV, Comedy Central, BET and Smithsonian content broaden the service further. Originals and franchise series help distinguish the subscription from a simple archive. Sport and news can be important in selected markets, but rights are local and can change between seasons. A tournament available in the United States may not be part of the service elsewhere. Film availability also follows cinema, home release and licensing windows. This means the Paramount name does not guarantee that every studio film is always included. Newsolite connects known titles to the canonical platform record so users can explore its catalogue. The official application remains the correct place to confirm current access, live coverage and whether a title needs a particular plan.

Plans and viewing experience

Paramount+ supports common browsers, mobile devices, smart televisions, streaming products and game consoles. Plans can differ in advertising, video quality, downloads, live television and access to additional premium programming. In some countries, Paramount+ is bundled with another service or sold as an add-on channel. That may change how billing, downloads and account management work. Profiles and parental controls help households organise recommendations, while supported mobile plans may allow selected downloads. Before subscribing, viewers should first confirm that Paramount+ is available directly in their country. They should then compare advertising, simultaneous streams, download rules and any live-sport limitations. A bundle can be convenient, but it may not provide exactly the same interface or catalogue as the direct app. Prices and promotional trials should be checked on the current local page. This guide keeps stable platform information separate from temporary offers so it remains useful when plans change.
