Soldier Arrested for Attacking Woman on Train in Jharkhand
An Indian Army soldier has been arrested in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He is accused of attacking a 22-year-old woman. Officials reported the arrest on Saturday, stating the incident happened while the soldier was on duty.
What Happened?
The incident took place on Thursday around 5:30 PM at Tatisilwai Railway Station. The young woman was waiting there to catch a train to Ranchi.
Officials said that the 42-year-old soldier took the woman to an empty train coach. There, he allegedly committed the crime. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) mentioned that the soldier was guarding a defense logistics train. He was reportedly drunk when the event occurred.
The Arrest
The woman cried for help, and people at the railway station heard her. They quickly raised an alarm, which brought the Railway police to the scene.
The soldier tried to run away, but the police caught him. He received some injuries during the arrest.
Legal Steps Taken
- Police filed a formal complaint (First Information Report or FIR) based on the woman's statement.
- On Friday, the accused soldier was presented before a court.
- The court ordered him to be held in judicial custody (jail).

The arrested soldier is from the Sarha police station area in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh. He was posted with the 42 Medium Regiment in Patiala, Punjab.
